Vedic science is a system of spiritual knowledge encompassing all domains of life. First, it gives us the knowledge whereby liberation or self-realisation can be gained, whereby we gain the true goal of life which is the immortality of our inner consciousness. Second, it provides the knowledge whereby the outer aspects of our lives can be harmonised with our spiritual purpose. This includes how to take care of our physical body and our society.

As such Vedic knowledge provides the foundation for a true and spiritual human culture. It extends into all spheres of life and knowledge including medicine, astrology, mathematics, psychology, sociology and linguistics. It is the basis of the art of India, its poetry, music, dance and sculpture. It was the model for the social structure and legal system of ancient India, which was quite different in the Vedic age than in medieval or modern times.

VEDIC INSIGHT: History, Culture & Beliefs

The word Veda comes from the Sanskrit word vid, to know. Veda means knowledge, pure knowledge or pure consciousness. The ancient East Indian documents known as the four Vedas concern themselves with the most fundamental relationships between nature and consciousness. For many years the Vedas were looked upon simply as ancient ritual, history, or naive poetry. But due to the recent work of some great scholars of the Vedas, the Vedic literary tradition is now recognised to be a complete and transformative body of knowledge, which may be equally important to experience as to understand intellectually. The Vedas can only be completely understood from the state of enlightenment. From that high state of human evolution, one knows the Vedas to be the living record of how consciousness moves within itself to give rise to all of creation.

YOGA PRACTICES - Paths of Liberation

YOGA PRACTICES - Paths of Liberation

The term Yoga itself means to combine, coordinate, harmonise, integrate, utilise. It indicates the maximum coordination of energy towards transformation or liberation. In the Vedic teaching it is not merely enough to learn something theoretically or conceptually, as the intellect is not the instrument of real knowledge. Whatever we learn must be put into practice in our daily life, with body, speech, mind and full awareness. It is only when it becomes part of our nature, that it can be said to be really known or accomplished. This practical application of the Vedic teaching is called Yoga. As practice is more important than theory, Yoga is more important than Veda, though neither should be separated from the other.

VEDIC MATHS

VEDIC MATHS

Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji. According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word-formulae. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution. Perhaps the most striking feature of the Vedic system is its coherence, rather than a mix of unrelated techniques the whole system is beautifully complimentary, interrelated and unified, easily making it the most refined and efficient mathematical system possible.

We are at junction of weather. Winter is going and spring is ahead. Trees are welcoming the spring and ready to blossom new leaves and flowers.
But are we?
Are we ready to cooperate with the summer weather just round the corner?
The general idea of health has two components; true health and diagnosed health. Many times the person is declared to be healthy, but he is stressed, has disturbed sleep, blotted. Battling for toilet every morning and he feels something is wrong. Often this is termed as psychosomatic disease or neuroses, or imagination.
Astrology has been regarded all over the world as the foremost of the occult sciences. It is the primary Vedanga or limb of the Vedas, as through it the right timing of actions. It is called the science of reason or causes "Hetu Shastra" as through it we can discern the karmic patterns behind events. Another name for it is "Jyotish", the science of light, as it deals with the subtle astral light patterns which inform and sustain our physical being and determine our destiny in life.
In the Vedic teaching it is not enough merely to learn something theoretically or conceptually. The intellect is not the instrument of real knowledge. Whatever we learn must be put into practice in our daily life, with body, speech, mind and full awareness. It is only when it becomes part of our nature, when through it we change our who we are and thereby return to our higher nature, that it can be said to be really known or accomplished.
Ayurveda is the knowledge or science, Veda, of life or longevity, ayur. It is the medical aspect of Vedic science and is regarded as an Upaveda or secondary Vedic system. Today it is perhaps the most commonly known of the Vedic sciences. In the Vedic and Yogic system health is seen as a basis for creative and spiritual growth, not as an end in itself. The goal of life is not just to live but to find the meaning of life. Hence we should use the time and energy our health provides for developing our higher nature. Thus Ayurveda naturally leads to the other and deeper aspects of Vedic knowledge.
Vedic Mathematics is far more systematic, simplified and unified than the conventional system. It is a mental tool for calculation that encourages the development and use of intuition and innovation, while giving the student a lot of flexibility, fun and satisfaction.
When it comes to Vedic culture, more popularly known as Hinduism, many people find it difficult or impossible to define it in a concise or adequate manner. It differs quite a bit from the conventional and western monotheistic religions with which many people are familiar. Hinduism is pluralistic. In other words, it does not claim any one prophet or savior; it includes all aspects of God; it does not subscribe to any one philosophy or dogma; it includes various schools of thought and ways of understanding spiritual Truth; it includes a variety of religious rites or sacraments; it does not exclude any particular scripture that can help a person understand more about God and spiritual Truth; and it does not say that you have only one life in which to become spiritually perfect or you will go to eternal damnation. Thus, Vedic philosophy is more of a way of living and an outlook on life than a religion.
Vaastu Shastra is an ancient science which helps one to get the natural benefits freely offered by the five basic elements of the universe in which we all live. These basic elements are Akash (SKY), Prithvi (EARTH), Paani (WATER), Agni (FIRE), and Vayu (WIND). Vaastu Shastra can be applied by keeping in harmony with these basic five elements of nature.
The study of mathematics in the West has long been characterized by a certain ethnocentric bias, a bias which most often manifests not in explicit racism, but in a tendency toward undermining or eliding the real contributions made by non-Western civilizations. The debt owed by the West to other civilizations, and to India in particular, go back to the earliest epoch of the "Western" scientific tradition, the age of the classical Greeks, and continued up until the dawn of the modern era, the renaissance, when Europe was awakening from its dark ages. This awakening was in part made possible by the rediscovery of mathematics and other sciences and technologies through the medium of the Arabs, who transmitted to Europe both their own lost heritage as well as the advanced mathematical traditions formulated in India.
